about

In 2015, Chapter Music released How Far Will You Go?, an extensive reissue of landmark 70s/80s recordings by outrageous Los Angeles leather rocker Smokey.
Spanning pre-punk, stoner jams, disco, synth-punk and more, How Far Will You Go? brought Smokey’s incredible self-released recordings to a new audience, seeing him covered everywhere from Pitchfork to Rolling Stone to Out Magazine.
Now Chapter presents an EP of remixes of Smokey’s most daring opus, the nine minute disco epic Piss Slave, which was considered too risqué for release at the time, and sat unreleased for nearly 30 years until unearthed for How Far Will You Go?
Reworked from original mastertapes, including tracks never heard on the final album version, the remixes include a stomping effort from Beats In Space’s Tim Sweeney and German collaborator Philip Lauer (aka T&P), plus remixes by Derek & Clive (comprising Roddy Bottum from Faith No More/Imperial Teen and sadly departed Australian queer icon Shannon Michael Cane), Dark Entries recording artist Bezier, and a well known producer working anonymously.
Who knew a song about watersports could be so thirst-quenching?
Chapter Music’s share of proceeds from this release will be donated to Los Angeles LGBT Center.
“Unsung heroes of those glam, pre-punk years” – Pitchfork “An arsenal of big-time riffs” – Rolling Stone
“The year’s raunchiest reissue” – Out Magazine
